Assam CM Sarma Lambasts Rahul Gandhi, Extols Modi’s Leadership at Barpeta Rally
Guwahati, 29th April: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during an election rally in Barpeta, asserting that under Gandhi’s leadership, the nation’s condition would be dismal compared to the progress made under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sarma highlighted Modi’s leadership, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, emphasizing the central government’s role in ensuring vaccine availability and medicine distribution, contrasting it with a hypothetical scenario under Gandhi’s leadership.
Expressing concerns about potential ramifications on vaccine distribution and COVID-19 management, Sarma suggested the situation could have been dire under Gandhi’s leadership.
Sarma also cited significant progress in addressing regional issues, attributing a decline in movements such as the Bodo and Karbi movements since 2014 to proactive measures taken by the central government under Modi’s leadership.
Additionally, Sarma outlined plans to empower Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by entrusting them with geo-tagging responsibilities post the Lok Sabha elections, aiming to decentralize administrative functions and empower women.
Sarma’s remarks reflect the deepening political divide ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, with his critique of Gandhi and endorsement of Modi’s governance resonating strongly in the political landscape.
