Assam CM Sarma Lays Foundation Stone of New Raj Bhawan at Kharghuli
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday lay the foundation stone for the governor’s new official house in Kharghuli.
The foundation stone was laid in the presence of the governor Jagdish Mukhi and the first lady Prem Mukhi.
Construction of the new Raj Bhawan would cost Rs. 41.32 crores.
CM Sarma said that the new mansion will be erected within 18 months.
Taking to Twitter, CM Sarma said, “Attended the foundation stone laying for a new Raj Bhawan at Kharghuli in presence of Hon’ble Governor Prof @jagdishmukhi ji & First Lady Smt Prem Mukhi ji. To be built for ₹41.32 cr in 18 months, the new Raj Bhawan will be one of most beautiful governor houses in the country.”
It should be noted that the new governor’s residence will have 9631 square metres of space.
The Governor’s official house will be transferred from the current Raj Bhavan to the cutting-edge residence once construction is complete.
