Assam CM Sarma Questions Congress, AIUDF Leaders on Eid Namaz Venue Amidst Election Rally
Guwahati, 2nd May: During an election rally in Golakganj, Dhubri, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed pointed questions at Congress leader Rakibul Hussian and AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal regarding their venue for offering Eid Namaz. Sarma’s inquiry, delivered on May 2, targeted the duo, questioning whether they observed the religious practice in Pakistan, Bangladesh, or Assam, particularly in light of Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister.
Accusing Ajmal and Hussian of spreading false propaganda alleging potential restrictions on minority religious practices under BJP rule, Sarma asserted that Eid Namaz and other religious observances have continued uninterrupted during Modi’s 10-year tenure. He challenged the opposition leaders to clarify where they offer Eid Namaz if they claim restrictions exist in India under Modi’s leadership.
Sarma further emphasized the electorate’s support for BJP, asserting that the people of Dhubri have decided to end Ajmal’s reign and are inclined towards making Modi the next Prime Minister. He addressed Hussian’s statement about disregarding multiple Chief Ministers, stating that the Congress leader should focus on managing one Chief Minister, himself, as the people’s blessings are with Sarma.
The rally marked a continuation of political discourse ahead of the upcoming elections, with Sarma leveraging the platform to challenge opposition narratives and garner support for the BJP.
