Assam CM Sarma Responds to Rahul Gandhi, Calls Criticism a Blessing
Guwahati, 20th January: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded to the verbal exchanges with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi amid the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Sarma considered any abusive remarks from the Gandhi family as a blessing, stating that it energizes him to fight against a family he perceives as considering itself the most powerful.
In a post on platform X, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma wrote, “Anything abusive , that comes from the so called Gandhi family, I consider it as a blessing. Because this gives me the energy to fight against a family which considers itself to be the most powerful”.
Once again calling the Gandhi family the most corrupt, CM Sarma further added in his post, “But I want to ask only one thing , can any one be more corrupt then the Gandhi’s? – Bofors Scam, National Herald Scam, Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the escape of Anderson, 2G scam, Coal Scam, etc (the list is huge and it goes on & on )”.
He challenged the effectiveness of Rahul Gandhi’s initiatives, questioning their impact on addressing real issues.
Rahul Gandhi defended the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, emphasizing its role in raising public awareness about injustices. He argued that the rally serves as a call to action for people to demand accountability from leaders. The ongoing verbal sparring has heightened tensions between the Congress leader and the Assam Chief Minister.
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi targeted CM Sarma and his family, calling him the most corrupt chief minister of Assam, leading to potential legal repercussions. Sarma’s son, Nandil Sarma, is likely to file a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi for his remarks on January 18, claiming the involvement of Sarma’s family, including children, in corruption. The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to continue in Assam until January 25, covering 833 km across 17 districts.
