Assam CM Sarma takes stock of state’s flood preparedness
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is touring some of the flood-affected areas today. Rangia’s flood-affected districts are now being inspected by Chief Minister Sarma. He went to the Fatima Convent School in Rangia to see a relief camp.
Talking to twitter Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “In view of surging water levels in rivers in Rangia inundating most parts of the town, visited affected areas to review ground situation. District Administration is ready to face any exigency and helping the flood affected people.”

The assam Chief minister then paid a visit to Kolajol which is part of the Kamalpur revenue circle. There he interacted with flood victims who were staying in shelters.
Talking to twitter he added, “Visited flood-affected Kolajol area under Kamalpur Revenue Circle and interacted with people taking shelter in makeshift relief camps along NH. Assured them that we are taking all necessary steps to help the affected people with rescue, relief & rehabilitation measures.”

He also requested that Paramanda Rajbongshi compile a list of persons who had lost their homes due to flooding.
He stated in twitter, “I also asked Hon’ble MLA Shri Paramananda Rajbongshi to prepare a list of the people whose houses have been damaged by the floods. This will enable us to reach out to them with relief and rehabilitation measures.”
Later, Himanta Biswa Sarma went to Darrang’s Nonoi embankment near Dipila and assessed the area. He further requested that the departments take prompt action in response to the problem.

A total of 18,94,373 people has been affected, with 1,08,104 taking refuge in 373 relief camps.
Assam has been dealing with floods and landslides in the past five days. In the last 24 hours, 28 districts, including Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Darrang, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara, Hojai, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Karbi Anglong West, Kokrajhar, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari
Flood incidents have affected 96 Revenue Circles and 2,930 villages in total.
