Assam: CM Sarma to meet NPF leaders

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister and convenor of North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) Himanta Biswa Sarma will meet with prominent leaders of the Naga People’s Front (NPF) on January 30, 2022.

The purpose of the discussion is to devise a formula for seat adjustment and seat-sharing between the two coalition partners in the upcoming Manipur State Assembly elections.

However, a reliable source claims that the NPF has exerted significant pressure on the BJP’s high brass to refrain from fielding a candidate in any constituency where the Naga party is strong.

The Saffron Party appears to be open to the Naga People’s Front’s proposal from Kohima.

It may be mentioned that if this seat-sharing idea becomes a reality, it will alter the political dynamics and equations in Manipur’s upcoming State Assembly elections, especially in Naga-dominated areas.
