Assam CM Seeks Central Support for Mega Projects, Invites Union Ministers to Business Summit
Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday met with several Union Ministers in New Delhi to discuss various development projects and initiatives for the state.
Key Discussions:
- Infrastructure Projects: Sarma met with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari to discuss the progress of several national highway projects, including the Guwahati Ring Road and the Kaziranga Elevated Corridor. He also sought central support for the proposed underwater tunnel between Gohpur and Numaligarh.
- Healthcare Initiatives: The Chief Minister met with Union Health Minister J P Nadda to discuss the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. He also extended an invitation to Nadda to attend the Advantage Assam Business Summit 2025.
- Investment Opportunities: Sarma met with Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal to discuss the upcoming Advantage Assam Business Summit. He sought the ministry’s support in attracting potential investors to the state.
- Telecommunications and Development: The Chief Minister also met with Union Minister for Telecommunications and DoNER, Jyotiraditya Scindia, to discuss the development of the Northeast region and the upcoming Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav.
Sarma expressed his gratitude to the Union Ministers for their support and guidance in the development of Assam. He emphasized the state’s potential for growth and investment and invited them to participate in the upcoming business summit.
