Assam CM thanks Arjun Kapoor, Rohit Shetty for their contribution of Rs 5 lakh towards Assam flood relief

Guwahati: Bollywood actors Arjun Kapoor and Rohit Shetty donated Rs 5 lakh to the CM Relief Fund for the state’s flood victims, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma hailed them for their generosity.

Taking to twitter, Sarma said, “Bollywood actor Shri Arjun Kapoor and director Shri Rohit Shetty stood by the flood-affected people of Assam with their contribution of Rs5 lakh to CM Relief Fund. I thank them for their concern and act of generosity.”

It should be noted that 25 districts in the state total about 11,09 lakh affected residents. In the past 24 hours, up to four people perished in the state.

In several areas of Assam, the Manas, Pagladiya, Puthimari, Kopili, Gaurang, and Brahmaputra rivers have water levels that are above the danger level.

1,510 villages among 72 revenue circles are currently inundated, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA).

A portion of the connecting road between Kalaigaon and Udalguri in the Majorchua area washed away earlier on Thursday, and at least 10 communities in the Kalaigaon region were drowned.

More than 7,000 people were impacted in the Tamulpur area where numerous villages were swamped by floodwaters.
