Assam CM: Upcoming Dighalipukhuri to Noonmati Flyover to Impact Guwahati’s Overall Landscape

Guwahati, 3rd Jan: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed plans for the upcoming Dighalipukhuri to Noonmati flyover, emphasizing its transformative impact on Guwahati’s landscape. The chief minister highlighted key benefits, including the assurance of a traffic-free stretch for the next 25 years and the provision of ample parking spaces beneath the flyover.

In addition to addressing traffic congestion, Sarma outlined the positive implications for traders and enhanced vehicular movement at multiple junctions within the city. Notably, the government is employing an environmentally friendly approach for the flyover’s construction, utilizing tree transplantation technology to minimize the impact on the city’s green cover.

The chief minister expressed his commitment to preserving the environment by stating, “With this, very few trees will be affected, and the city will not lose its green cover.” This innovative method aims to strike a balance between infrastructural development and ecological conservation.

Sarma laid the foundation stone for the longest flyover in Guwahati on January 2, marking the commencement of a project that aligns with both the city’s growing transportation needs and the imperative to safeguard its natural surroundings.
