Assam CM urges Bihuwas and Bihuwatis to invest received money on education

Guwahati, 1 July: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on July 1 advised Bihuwas and Bihuwatis who had received Rs 25,000 as a token of appreciation from the government to use the money to fund their education.

Sarma made this statement while speaking to a crowd in Dibrugarh adding, “If the money is used wisely, the returns will be numerous.”

”I urge all the Bihuwas and Bihuwatis, who received ₹25,000 as a mark of gratitude from the Govt, to invest the amount for their education. The entire exercise costs the exchequer Rs 30 crore, but I’m certain that if used judiciously, the returns will manifold,” Assam CMO tweeted Himanta Biswa Sarma as saying.

On June 30 and July 1, the Assam government gave Rs 25,000 to the Bihu performers who took part in the historic occasion and helped Assam enter the Guinness Book of World Records on April 13.

Assam created another new Guinness World Record in an impressive demonstration of cultural pride by organising the largest live ensemble performance of the traditional DHOL instrument.

In the presence of Guinness World Record officials, almost 3,000 drummers, also known as dhuliyas congregated in a single frame to play the DHOL and establish a new record at an event that took place at Sarusajai Stadium in Guwahati.

The largest Bihu dance in a single frame performance for the Guinness World Record immediately preceded the creation of the record.

On the same day, approximately 11,000 folk dancers and drummers from Assam broke a previous Guinness World Record for the largest Bihu dance performance in a single frame.

Singers and players of traditional instruments, including the dhol, taal, gogona, toka, pepa, and xutuli, were among the performers.
