Assam CM Visits Flood-Hit Palashbari, Promises New Housing Under PMAY
Guwahati, 7th July: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday, July 7 visited Palashbari in Kamrup district to assess flood damage and oversee the distribution of relief to affected residents, pledging new housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
During his visit to Palashbari, CM Sarma interacted with displaced families, assuring them that their damaged homes would be replaced with new housing under the PMAY scheme. The Chief Minister highlighted the extensive damage caused by the ongoing floods, which have left many homes uninhabitable and forced residents into relief camps.
In his statement, CM Sarma emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and hygiene of the relief camps, and he underscored the importance of collecting real-time feedback from residents to enhance relief operations. “We are witnessing significant displacement due to the floods in Assam, with many families now residing in our relief camps. Today, I met with several affected individuals in Palashbari and have instructed officials to expedite the provision of new houses under the PMAY scheme,” he stated, reaffirming his administration’s proactive approach to addressing the aftermath of natural disasters.
CM Sarma’s visit and his assurances underline the state government’s efforts to support flood-affected communities and improve their living conditions through timely and effective interventions.
