Assam CM visits late Vineet Bagaria’s residence; assured strict action against culprits

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a visit to Vineet Bagaria’s home and expressed his condolences to the Bagaria family on Saturday.

CM Sarma apologized for the incident to the Bagaria family.

“The Dibrugarh district administration has failed miserably. Whoever the offenders are, I will punish them severely,” Sarma said.

Sarma spoke with the deceased Vinnet Bagaria’s family members and gave them assurances that action will be taken against the culprits.

Two people were arrested by the Dibrugarh police on Friday in connection to the suicide of animal rights activist Vineet Bagaria.

The individuals were detained on suspicion of aiding suicide. They have been identified as Nishant Sharma and Baidullah Khan. A group of Lumding-based Dibrugarh police officers arrested them.

Two more accused Sanjay Sarma and Izaz Khan still absconding.

It needs to be mentioned that Vineet Bagaria hanged himself to death at his residence at the Shani Mandir Road in Dibrugarh on Thursday.

His family members took him to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead.

Before his death, Vineet had self-recorded a video where he accused Baidullah Khan, Sanjay Sharma, and Nishant Sharma of tormenting him and his family physically and mentally over a rental property.

Vineet was the co-founder of Animal Welfare People (AWP), an NGO, which takes care of stray dogs.

Many dogs that had been hurt in accidents had been saved by his organisation.

Vineet had provided food to numerous stray dogs throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. The young man was inspired to join the NGO by his passion of animals.
