Assam CM would take action against harassment of lone Hindu family in Muslim-dominated village

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday promised to take action against individuals responsible for reportedly harassing a lone Hindu family in a Muslim-majority village in the Lahorighat of Morigaon district.

The new incident comes after harassment by the purported Muslim majority population of the hamlet left the Hindu family living in Ati village in Dhing under Lahorighat police station in Morigaon district living in dread.

Additionally, the victim’s relatives said that they were compelled to enter their home before dusk and those they now spend their days and nights in complete terror.

While claiming to be the true owners of the land and to have lived there for many years, the victim’s family has been accused of encroaching on the land.

Additionally, they claim that their lives are in danger because they have already been attacked and asked to leave the area, and their house has already been set on fire by miscreants.

In its complaint, the family stated that they have lived on their land for many years.

The victim’s family claims that despite multiple approaches to the police in this regard, no action was initiated into the matter.

The Hindu family, who could find no other way to address their growing problems, has now sought the assistance of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who has promised to take prompt action against the culprits.

“We will take strong measures immediately so that everyone can live with a sense of peace and security,” Assam CM tweeted.
