Assam: Committee Constituted to Finalise State Emblem

Guwahati: The Assam cabinet has formed a cabinet committee to finalise a state emblem in an endeavour to establish a distinctive symbol that will signify and visually represent the state.

State education minister Ranoj Pegu and health minister Keshab Mahanta will lead the committee.

This was part of a decision made at the state cabinet meeting on Wednesday, which was communicated by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma.

Several other key choices were made at the meeting, including distributing land to the poor, strengthening rural and road infrastructure, and increasing administrative efficiency, among others.

Other cabinet decisions made during the meeting include the approval of rupees 156 crore for the expansion of Jorhat airport.

Meanwhile, a total of 124 bighas 14.92 lessas of private property has been given to coincide with the airport’s development, which will be carried out by the Airports Authority of India (AAI).

Furthermore, a total of 450 crore has also been granted for the development of a new Medical College and Hospital in the state’s newly constituted Tamulpur district.
