Assam: Congress Announces Nationwide Protests Amid Alleged Attacks on Rahul Gandhi’s Yatra in state

Guwahati, 22nd January: The Indian National Congress has declared its intention to organize nationwide protests following what it alleges are planned attacks on the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi as it passes through Assam. The yatra, covering 833 kilometers across 17 districts, has faced reported incidents, including the mobbing of Rahul Gandhi and tearing down of posters.

Congress general secretary K C Venugopal accused Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, of orchestrating these attacks, labeling him “the most corrupt CM in India.” The protests aim to denounce the alleged assaults and highlight what the Congress perceives as BJP’s fascism and hooliganism.

The party demands a judicial inquiry into the attack on Assam Congress chief Bhupen Kumar Borah and remains committed to its cause for justice despite challenges faced during the yatra.
