Assam Congress: Demolition of Madrasas Part of AIUDF, BJP’s Politics For 2024 Polls

Guwahati: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), led by Badruddin Ajmal and the ruling BJP have a covert strategy to create polarisation ahead of the general election in 2024, according to the Assam Congress in response to the demolition of madrasas by the Assam government.

Congress MLA Abdur Rashid Mandal claimed that by targeting Madrasas, the BJP was attempting to provide the AIUDF a platform to engage in divisive politics among Muslims in order for the party to gain advantages.

“Both the BJP and the AIUDF are engaged in polarising politics and share a secret agreement. In addition, the BJP-led administration is attempting to distract from pressing concerns like price increases, unemployment, etc. by tearing down Madrasas ” he said.

He added that the Assam government’s activists who target Muslims and madrasas are condemned by the Congress party.

“We are vehemently opposed to jihadist terrorism. However, the state government’s decision to demolish madrasas is wholly unacceptable, and we are vehemently opposed to it. Although the government has the right to demolish Madrasas if it discovers any Jihadists or terrorists, doing so would be in breach of the constitution ” Mandal explained.

Attacking the BJP and RSS, Mandal claimed that they are attempting to eradicate Islam from the nation by focusing on Madrasas.

“Only 2% of Muslim students have attended Madrasas, yet every year, a large number of Imams and Maulanas who are advancing Islam’s cause arrive from these institutions. No Imam, Maulana will be in charge going forward if the Madrasas are destroyed. Their goal is to establish Hindu Rashtra, ” Abdur Rashid Mandal said.

The Congress MLA accused AIUDF of engaging in polarising politics and said that AIUDF was working to alienate Assam Muslims.
