Assam: Congress Leader Pradyot Bordoloi May Switch to BJP, Claims Legislator Phanidhar Talukdar

Guwahati, 25th February: Phanidhar Talukdar, the legislator representing Bhabanipur, made a bold assertion on February 25, suggesting that Congress leader Pradyot Bordoloi could defect to the BJP if denied a ticket from the Nagaon constituency.

Addressing the landscape of opposition parties, Talukdar predicted a significant shift, indicating the dominance of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) while foreseeing the loss of the Leader of Opposition seat by the Congress in the upcoming assembly.

Commenting on the BJP’s election preparations for the impending Lok Sabha polls, Talukdar remarked, “Every political entity is actively gearing up for the elections. The BJP is devising fresh strategies for the electoral battle, particularly focusing on the Bhabanipur constituency. Consequently, there may be a void in the Leader of Opposition position in the forthcoming assembly. Moreover, MP Pradyut Bordoloi could align with the BJP if he fails to secure a ticket in Nagaon. Additionally, Muslim MLAs may also contemplate joining the BJP.”

Talukdar further speculated, “In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Congress might secure a few seats, following which the opposition’s influence could diminish significantly.”
