Guwahati, 4th March: Congress MLA Pradip Sarkar, representing Abhayapuri South Assembly constituency in Bongaigaon district, Assam, has been targeted in a major financial fraud, with a whopping sum of Rs 81 lakh siphoned from his bank account across various branches, including those in Guwahati, Bongaigaon, and Abhayapuri.
The fraudulent activity came to light when MLA Pradip Sarkar attempted a transaction involving a cheque of Rs 10 lakh to purchase a car from a local dealership. Shockingly, it was revealed that a substantial portion of his funds had been deceitfully diverted.
Prompt action was taken by the police, who registered a case at the Abhayapuri police station under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 379, 406, 419, 420, and 468, along with relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.
