Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi Highlights Urgent Issues on Teok-Sivasagar Highway

Guwahati, 1st July: Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has raised serious concerns over the deteriorating state of the Teok-Sivasagar Highway in the Jorhat region, emphasizing its critical role in local connectivity and the persistent problems plaguing its construction.

In a recent post on the microblogging site X, Gogoi underscored the highway’s significance for regional connectivity but lamented its poor condition. He highlighted ongoing construction delays and dangerous road conditions that have led to frequent accidents and long traffic jams.

“Work for several portions of the road has been ‘ongoing’ for the past several years. The condition of the road is deplorable,” Gogoi wrote. “From frequent accidents to long traffic jams, this portion is affected with several issues.”

The MP pointed out that multiple contractors have abandoned the project midway, and numerous tenders have been issued without yielding effective results. He emphasized the severe inconvenience faced by the local population due to these persistent issues.

Gogoi called on the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, to intervene and expedite the completion of the highway. “I urge Hon’ble Minister of Road Transport and Highways Shri Nitin Gadkari to intervene and take immediate action. Shri Gadkari has visited Jorhat in the recent past. I’m optimistic that he will take the necessary steps to ensure work is completed at the earliest and people don’t have to suffer indiscriminately,” he stated.
