Assam: Contraband tablets seized in Nalbari, one held
Guwahati: In the ongoing war against drugs Assam Police seized contraband tablets and arrested one person in the connection in Nalbari district.
According to reports, the TSI and staff of Nalbari Police Station in a raid recovered 280 Tramadol capsules from Bijulinagar of the district.
It is to be noted that the police further seized one mobile phone, few amount of cash from his possession.

It may be mentioned that Tramadol is a psychotropic drug which is medically prescribed as a pain killer also and is extensively abused all over the world by addicts.
Tramadol was brought into the ambit of NDPS Act in April, 2018, making its production and sale without prior registration and approval of the Narcotics Commissioner. It is a scheduled ‘H’ drug under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 and can only be dispensed under the prescription of a registered medical practitioner.
A legal action has been initiated and further investigation is underway.
