Assam: Controversy Surrounds Karimganj Civil Hospital Following Alleged Wrong Sterilization Procedure

Guwahati, 10th February: Karimganj Civil Hospital in Assam has become embroiled in controversy after the death of a woman identified as Usha Barman during an alleged wrong sterilization process.

According to reports, Barman’s family members accused the operating surgeon, Dr. Ashish Kumar Biswas, and his team of fleeing the scene following her death. Upon discovering Barman’s lifeless body in the locked operation theatre, the family members took action, prompting intervention from officials at Karimganj Sadar Police Station.

The situation was brought under control by authorities, with Karimganj Sadar Circle Officer overseeing the removal of the deceased’s body from the operation theatre.

This incident isn’t the first time Dr. Biswas has faced controversy. Previously, he was accused of administering incorrect treatment resulting in a patient’s death, prompting an investigation by a team from Guwahati.

Additionally, another woman reportedly passed away due to erroneous treatment by Dr. Biswas approximately six to seven months after the initial incident. As investigations into the latest incident continue, concerns regarding medical practices and patient safety at Karimganj Civil Hospital persist.
