Assam: Corruption Charges Lead to Arrest of Assam Police Officer
Guwahati, 14th November: A Head Constable identified as Safed Ali from the Dalgaon police station in Assam’s Darrang district was arrested on November 14 on corruption charges.
Officials from the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption trapped Ali after he allegedly accepted a bribe at Titan Hotel in Dalgaon. The bribe was related to providing relief in a case, and the officer was caught red-handed during the operation.
This incident follows a similar case on October 28 when Assistant Sub Inspector Ahmed Ali of Dhupdhara Police Station in Goalpara district was apprehended for bribery charges.
Ahmed Ali allegedly demanded money from a complainant to settle a family dispute. The Directorate set up a trap, leading to Ali’s arrest while accepting a portion of the bribe near the police station.
These cases highlight the authorities’ commitment to tackling corruption within the police force, emphasizing the legal consequences for those engaging in such activities.
