Assam: Dacoity Plot Foiled and Four Arrested in Dispur

Guwahati: Dispur police have successfully thwarted a potential dacoity, apprehending four individuals hailing from Assam’s Dhubri district. The arrests were made following a crucial tip-off, leading law enforcement to a rented residence situated in the Sarumataria area of the city.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Anuar Ali and Hasim Ali, both residents of Bondihana, alongside Sujal Haque and Saidul Islam, who are from Bilasipara.

A search conducted during the operation resulted in the recovery of several items, including an iron sabbal, a dao (a type of machete), a water pump, two mobile phones, and a plastic bottle containing a liquid suspected to be a sedative. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to delve deeper into the matter, seeking to uncover any additional information or potential links.

In a separate operation, a joint effort by the Bhagadattapur police and the Dispur police resulted in the apprehension of a suspected teer bookie. The individual, identified as Rajesh Kumar Jha, aged 50, was taken into custody near the Sukleswar Mandir, located in the Kamrup Metropolitan district of Assam. Police officials confiscated three mobile phones along with other items deemed objectionable from his possession.

Furthering their efforts to maintain law and order, the Basistha police have successfully apprehended an individual involved in theft. The accused has been identified as Abid Khan, an 18-year-old. Following his arrest, law enforcement officials were able to recover some of the items that had been reported as stolen.
