Assam: Deadly Dagger Attack in Tinsukia Leaves One Dead, Another Injured

Guwahati, July 29, 2024 — A violent sharp weapon attack late on the night of July 28 in Tinsukia has resulted in the death of Raushan Shah and serious injuries to another individual. The incident occurred near Chenairam Higher Secondary School, a bustling area in the district.

Reports indicate that Shah was attacked with a dagger by an unidentified assailant. Shah, suffering from severe injuries, was rushed to the Civil Hospital by family members and local residents. Despite immediate medical intervention, Shah was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

In addition to Shah, his aunt, who was also injured during the attack, has been transferred to Dibrugarh for more advanced medical care. The assault is believed to have stemmed from an ongoing family dispute.

The circumstances surrounding Shah’s medical treatment have sparked controversy. Shah’s brother has accused the hospital staff of negligence, alleging that the doctors declared Shah dead prematurely. These allegations have led to increased scrutiny of the hospital’s procedures and protocols.

Authorities are investigating the attack and the claims of medical malpractice as the community grapples with the aftermath of this tragic event.
