Assam Declares ‘Dry Day’ on January 22 for Ram Mandir Consecration Ceremony

Guwahati, 8th January: In honor of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, 2024, Assam will observe a ‘dry day.’ The state government’s decision, announced by Tourism Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah after a cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, prohibits the sale of alcohol throughout Assam on this significant religious occasion.

The consecration ceremony is expected to attract numerous dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Chhattisgarh has also declared January 22 as a ‘dry day’ to mark the widespread reverence for the event.

The Ram Mandir, an architectural marvel, is being constructed by Larsen & Toubro, offering their services free of cost. The measures taken by various states reflect the cultural and spiritual significance of the Ram Mandir.
