Assam Deputy Speaker Condemns Attack On BJP District Office at Golaghat’s Sarupathar
Guwahati: The Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly Numal Momin has denounced the attack on the BJP office in Sarupathar of Karbi Anglong district.
The Deputy Speaker on Sunday went to the scene of the attack to inspect the situation and stated that the perpetrators would not be spared.
“We will not spare anyone who threatens the residents of the Sarupathar council constituency, whether he is a BJP or a Congress supporter. We will retaliate vehemently against anyone who want to destabilise the peaceful environment “Momin said.
He further stated that ‘gunda raj’ will not be tolerated in the state, and that the perpetrators will face severe punishment.
Reportedly, some unidentified miscreants set fire to the BJP Sarupathar Mondal Office which is located in the Bokajan assembly seat on Saturday night.
It needs to be mentioned that the incident occurs just days before the election for 26 seats on the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, which is set to take place on June 8.
