Assam Deputy Speaker Foresees More Congress Defections to BJP

Guwahati 29th February: Assam Assembly Deputy Speaker Numal Momin weighed in on the growing crisis within the Congress stronghold, predicting a surge in defections to the BJP in the days ahead, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership as a driving force.

Addressing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Momin asserted that it inadvertently initiated a “Congress todo Yatra,” evident from the ongoing exodus of leaders from Congress to BJP. He underscored that the trend reflects a broader disillusionment within the Congress ranks.

Momin emphasized that following Rahul Gandhi’s yatra, a notable shift occurred as Congress leaders began departing the party, attributing their defections to the magnetic appeal of PM Modi’s leadership. Notably, in Assam, numerous Congress leaders have already made the transition to BJP, signaling a significant realignment in the state’s political landscape.

Speaking to the media, Momin expressed his belief that the trend of Congress leaders defecting to BJP will continue unabated in the foreseeable future, underscoring the enduring influence of PM Modi’s charismatic leadership.
