Assam: Devastating Fire Claims Life, Injures Many in Moirabari

Guwahati: A tragic fire engulfed Ward No. 6, Barthaal Kachari Gaon, under Dalaigaon Panchayat in Moirabari late on February 8, leaving a trail of destruction and claiming the life of a young man.

The blaze, which is believed to have originated from a wooden structure within a residence, quickly spread, trapping several individuals inside.

Panic ensued as residents attempted to escape the rapidly advancing inferno, resulting in multiple critical injuries.

Sadly, 22-year-old Moinul Haque, who was physically disabled, was unable to escape and perished in the flames while asleep.

The fire completely destroyed two homes and all their belongings, causing an estimated loss of over Rs 10 lakh.

Local residents and the Moirabari Fire Department worked tirelessly for several hours to bring the blaze under control, but by then, the damage was extensive. Nothing could be salvaged from the affected households.

Moinul Haque’s body was transported to Morigaon Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the full extent of the damages.
