Assam: Devastating Fire Ravages Chirang, Destroying Homes and Livestock

Guwahati: A late-night inferno engulfed South Makra No. 4, located within the Bijni subdivision of Assam’s Chirang district, on Monday, March 25th, leaving a trail of destruction and significant losses for local residents.

The rapid spread of flames resulted in the complete destruction of two residential properties and the tragic death of livestock.

The fire’s origin has been traced to the home of Sarabat Ali, a resident of the area. The blaze quickly escalated, consuming adjacent dwellings with alarming speed. A cow was fatally caught in the chaos, while another sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition.

Preliminary reports indicate that a short circuit is suspected to be the catalyst for the devastating fire. Emergency responders from the Bijni fire department, bolstered by the swift action of local community members, successfully brought the flames under control, preventing what could have been a far more extensive catastrophe.

Local authorities have initiated a comprehensive investigation to ascertain the precise cause of the fire and to evaluate the full scope of the damage incurred. Further details are anticipated as the investigation progresses.
