Assam: Devastating Fire Ravages Margherita Market; Losses Estimated at Rs 1.50 Crore

Assam: In the early hours of Saturday night, December 21, a massive fire broke out in the local market of Margherita, Assam, reducing 20-25 shops to ashes and causing property damage estimated at Rs 1.50 crore.

The fire, which started around 1 a.m., left significant devastation in its wake. Local residents have raised suspicions of foul play, hinting that the fire might have been an act of arson. Firefighters promptly arrived at the scene and managed to contain the blaze, but efforts to fully douse the smoldering remains are ongoing.

Authorities have confirmed that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Earlier, a massive fire broke out at Fakiragram market in Assam, engulfing a shop owned by local businessman Badal Saha. The blaze caused extensive damage, reducing the shop to ashes and resulting in financial losses running into lakhs.

The timely response of the fire brigade helped prevent the fire from spreading further, averting a larger catastrophe.

These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns over fire safety in local markets, with traders and residents calling for stricter safety measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
