Assam: Dhubri Administration Reclaims Khas Land in Park Eviction Drive
Dhubri, Assam – In a significant operation aimed at reclaiming government land, the Dhubri district administration on Saturday successfully evicted approximately 40 makeshift shops illegally occupying “khas land” within Dhubri Park. The encroached area, strategically located near the Dhubri Zilla Parishad office and the Dhubri Dak Bungalow, had been a hub of unauthorised commercial activity.
The eviction drive, spearheaded by Partha Pratim Barman, Circle Officer of the Dhubri Revenue Circle, proceeded smoothly as shopkeepers voluntarily dismantled their establishments and vacated the premises. This cooperative response followed a series of prior instructions from the Dhubri district administration to clear the land.
Officials confirmed that the administration was compelled to take stringent action after repeated warnings to vacate the government-designated property went unheeded. The drive underscores the district administration’s resolve to ensure public land is utilised appropriately and in accordance with land regulations. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on illegal encroachments across the entire district, signalling a broader campaign against such unauthorised occupations.
