Assam: Dhubri District Health Society Launches Campaign to Combat Diarrhoea Among Children

Guwahati, 21st July: The Dhubri District Health Society has embarked on a comprehensive two-month campaign aimed at protecting over 1.5 lakh children from diarrhoea. The initiative, which began on Saturday at the Dhubri Urban Ayushman Arogya Mandir, is focused on safeguarding children from this preventable disease through a range of preventive measures.

Endorsed by the Health Ministry of Assam, the campaign seeks to mitigate diarrhoea with a strong emphasis on the use of Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) and ZINC tablets. Sub-Divisional Health Officer Natya Vir Das outlined the strategies for prevention, while Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed underscored the critical role of these measures in protecting young children from diarrhoea.

Running for 60 days starting July 20, the campaign will involve Asha workers distributing ORS packets to children aged 0-5 and educating communities about diarrhoea prevention. The initiative is a collaborative effort supported by the Social Welfare, Public Health Engineering, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and Education Departments.

Moyez Uddin Ahmed, District Media Expert for the National Health Mission Dhubri, highlighted the ambitious goal of reaching 1,54,666 children during the campaign. This multi-departmental effort aims to significantly reduce the incidence of diarrhoea and improve child health in the region.
