Assam: Dhubri Police Arrest Hospital Employee in Major Ayushman Bharat Card Scam

Guwahati, 18th September: In a significant move against corruption, Dhubri Police arrested Habibul Hasan Alom, an employee of Dhubri Medical College and Hospital, on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in a large-scale scam related to the misappropriation of Ayushman Bharat cards. The scheme, meant to provide healthcare benefits to economically disadvantaged individuals, has been tainted by this alleged misuse.

Alom, a resident of Jhagrarpar in Dhubri, is accused of arranging unauthorized medical treatments for individuals who were not eligible under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. It is reported that he solicited payments from these individuals on hospital premises, raising alarms about the misuse of public healthcare funds.

The scam came to light after the Dhubri Medical College and Hospital administration lodged a formal complaint, prompting an in-depth police investigation. This revelation has sparked public concern, shedding light on potential corruption within the administration of the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover the full scope of the fraud and to identify any other individuals who may have been involved in the operation.
