Assam: Dhubri Police Crack Down on Cattle Smuggling, Arrest Five Key Suspects

Guwahati, 21st July: In a major operation against cattle smuggling, Dhubri police have conducted successful raids in Chapar, resulting in the seizure of 12 cattle and the arrest of five individuals suspected of being involved in the smuggling network.

On Saturday, coordinated raids were carried out in the areas of Aareyarjhar and New Jalikura in Bahalpur. Police seized four cows from Aareyarjhar and eight from New Jalikura. The crackdown led to the arrests of Abdul Sattar, Amir Hussain, Moinul Haque, Naskar Ali, and Ameerul Haque, who are believed to be significant players in the smuggling ring.

Authorities have revealed that the smugglers were using various unconventional routes, such as hills, rivers, and inter-district borders, to transport the cattle. This tactic highlights the evolving strategies of the smuggling network. Police noted that the cattle mafia is increasingly exploiting vulnerable communities to further their illegal activities.

The operation marks a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat cattle smuggling in the region, demonstrating the police’s commitment to disrupting these illegal networks and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
