Assam: Dhubri Police Crack Down on Multi-Crore Online Scam; Arrest Key Suspect
Guwahati, September 3, 2024 – Dhuri Police arrested Shankar Kumar Biswas, a resident of Daobhangi in Gauripur, on Monday night from a rented house in Ward No. 1, Dhubri. His arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into a significant online money-trading scam involving the fraudulent investment scheme Titan Capital Market.
Authorities allege that Biswas, working with co-conspirators Halakura Higher Secondary Principal Dinesh Chandra Roy and computer teacher Rafiqul Islam, orchestrated a scheme promising investors a monthly return of 21%. Victims were lured into investing substantial sums, which were subsequently siphoned off by the accused. The scheme is reported to have defrauded individuals of crores of rupees.
Rafiqul Islam, another suspect in the case, has also been arrested by Dhubri police. However, Principal Dinesh Chandra Roy remains at large. The investigation is ongoing as police continue to probe the extent of the fraud and any additional involvement of the suspects.
