Assam: Dhubri Police Nab Duo with 175 Yaba Tablets in Golakganj Bust

Dhubri, Assam – In a significant strike against the pervasive drug trade, Dhubri district police late Monday evening successfully apprehended two suspected drug peddlers in the Golakganj area. The arrests, stemming from actionable intelligence, saw a police team intercept two individuals near National Highway 17, leading to the recovery of a substantial haul of illicit substances.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Rajib Sarkar, 36, son of Korim Miya, and Hasmat Ali, 30, son of Abdul Miya. Both are residents of Bidyadabri Part II, falling under the jurisdiction of Golakganj Police Station.

During the meticulous search conducted by law enforcement officials, a total of 175 Yaba tablets were confiscated, with an approximate weight of 15 grams. This synthetic stimulant, notorious for its widespread abuse and often trafficked across international borders, poses a growing threat, particularly among the youth.

A formal case has been lodged against Sarkar and Ali under the pertinent sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police officials have confirmed that a comprehensive investigation is now in motion to ascertain the origin of the seized tablets and uncover any broader connections to established drug trafficking rings.
