Assam: Dhubri Police Seize Suspected Gold; Arrest One in Gauripur

Guwahati, 27th June: Dhubri Police on June 26 apprehended an individual and seized suspected gold at the Gauripur Police Station in Assam’s Dhubri district. The arrested person, Ali Hussain, son of the late Dilbar Khan and resident of Dangirchar in the Gauripur Police Station area, was detained based on specific intelligence.

During the operation, police recovered two pieces of suspected gold, totaling 845.24 grams, from Hussain. Reports indicate that Hussain was intercepted at Dawbhangi bridge while allegedly en route to finalize a deal involving the sale of the gold. The seizure was conducted in the presence of local witnesses.

Following his arrest, Hussain confessed to transporting the gold. A subsequent raid, led by Circle Inspector Ratul Haloi of Golakganj along with OC Jitumani Deka and SI Jeetraj Shyam from Gauripur Police Station, targeted the residence of Ahmed Khan in Dangirchar. Although Khan managed to escape during the raid, police found materials and tools used for manufacturing fake gold hidden in his house.

Ali Hussain is currently detained at Gauripur Police Station for further interrogation as the investigation into the smuggling operation and production of counterfeit gold continues.
