Promoted as a significant 10-day state trade fair, the event has been accused of being a front for unauthorized gambling operations. Local residents have raised alarms about the presence of various lotteries, often linked to gambling, being conducted openly within the fair premises, despite clear prohibitions by the district administration.
Reports indicate that these activities are ongoing day and night, drawing serious concern from the community. Several citizens have expressed their apprehensions, questioning the role of the Assam Cricket Association, the district sports association, and the district administration in permitting such activities.
“The presence of illegal gambling at a state-sanctioned trade fair is unacceptable,” said one local resident. “We need a thorough investigation to determine how this was allowed to happen and hold those responsible accountable.”
