Assam: Dibrugarh Court Extends Custody of Fraudster Bishal Phukan as SIT Launches Investigation into Online Investment Scam
Dibrugarh, 20th September: The Dibrugarh Sessions Judge’s Court extended the police custody of fraudster Bishal Phukan by four days on September 20, following a request from law enforcement seeking additional time for investigation into his alleged fraudulent activities. The police initially sought a seven-day extension, but the court granted four days.
In response to the growing concerns surrounding the online investment scam linked to Phukan, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising seven members has been established to conduct a comprehensive inquiry. The SIT, headed by Sanjukta Parashar, Inspector General of Police (IGP) of CID Assam, will focus on the fraudulent scheme allegedly promoted by Dibrugarh-based social media influencer Sumi Borah.
The SIT includes Dibrugarh Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Crime) Sizal Agarwal, along with three CID inspectors and two police superintendents, all tasked with uncovering the full extent of the scam and ensuring accountability for those involved. This high-profile investigation underscores the seriousness of the case and the ongoing efforts to bring justice to the victims of the fraud.
