Assam: Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival Kicks Off with Grand Inauguration
Guwahati, 20th March: Dibrugarh University, in collaboration with the Foundation for Culture, Arts, and Literature (FOCAL), launched the much-awaited Dibrugarh University International Literature Festival at the university’s prestigious Rangghar Auditorium.
The festival, spanning three days until March 21st, promises a diverse range of literary discussions with 85 writers hailing from 14 different countries participating in 35 sessions.
A significant milestone in acknowledging the global literary heritage, the festival underscores the importance of literature in bridging cultural divides and fostering meaningful conversations.
The joint initiative reaffirms Dibrugarh University’s commitment to nurturing creativity and advancing intellectual discourse across various literary genres.
As participants converge to share their perspectives and narratives, the festival transforms into a vibrant tapestry of human experiences, showcasing the power of literary expression to transcend boundaries.
Panel discussions, in-conversation sessions, reading sessions, book signings, workshops, and cultural programs form the backbone of the literature festival, offering a platform for engaging discourse and artistic expression.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including chief guest Damodar Mauzo, recipient of the Jnanpith Award and the Sahitya Akademi Award, and guest of honor Padma Bhushan Jahnu Barua, a renowned film director, alongside other dignitaries and attendees. Dr. Jiten Hazarika, Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, extended a warm welcome to all.
The festival aims to inspire Dibrugarh University students to forge meaningful connections with the global literary and intellectual communities, fostering a deeper appreciation for diverse literary traditions.
The festival will culminate with a closing ceremony on March 21st, marking the conclusion of a memorable celebration of literature, creativity, and cultural exchange.
