Assam: Dilapidated Bamboo Bridge Collapse in Dhemaji Injuring School Students

Guwahati, 26th October: A shocking and distressing incident unfolded in Dhemaji, Assam, as a dilapidated bamboo bridge suddenly gave way, resulting in injuries to several school students who were in the process of crossing the river via this bridge.

The incident occurred in Chahbari, a region located within Dhemaji district, as a group of school students were making their way across the bridge, attempting to reach their school. The incident was marked by the terrified cries of students, screaming and yelling for help, which alerted local residents to the scene.

In the aftermath of this alarming collapse, a total of 20 students were reported injured, with 5 of them in a serious condition, requiring immediate medical intervention. Promptly, locals rushed to the aid of the injured students.

All the injured students have been referred to the Dhemaji Civil Hospital, where they will receive the necessary medical attention and care.

This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the vital need for maintaining and ensuring the safety of essential infrastructure, particularly when it concerns the well-being of the community, especially school-going children.
