Assam: Diljit Dosanjh Pays Heartfelt Tribute to Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at Guwahati Concert

Guwahati: Singer and performer Diljit Dosanjh honoured former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh with a touching tribute during his concert in Guwahati on Sunday. The gesture came in the wake of Singh’s passing at the age of 92 in Delhi after a prolonged illness.

Addressing the audience, Dosanjh spoke of Singh’s remarkable simplicity and grace throughout his political career. “He led a very simple life. Even when criticised, he never responded negatively or spoke ill of anyone, which is an incredibly challenging thing to do in politics,” the artist shared. He called on the younger generation, including himself, to emulate Singh’s humility and dignified conduct.

The concert, part of Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour, was dedicated to Singh’s memory. A video from the event shared on Instagram captured the singer’s heartfelt homage, which highlighted the enduring lessons to be drawn from Singh’s life and legacy.

Manmohan Singh’s contributions to India are widely regarded as transformative. As Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, he spearheaded economic reforms that set the stage for India’s growth trajectory. Later, as the nation’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, Singh was lauded for his leadership, economic resilience, and efforts to modernize India’s infrastructure and global stature.

Having retired from public life in 2014, Singh’s legacy endures as a beacon of integrity, intellect, and dedication to India’s progress. Dosanjh’s tribute struck a chord with many, offering a poignant acknowledgment of the late leader’s lasting impact and values.
