Assam: Dima Hasao Police Introduce Unique Initiative to Promote Road Safety
Guwahati, 17th May: In a bid to reduce the number of frequent road accidents across the state, the Dima Hasao police force has adopted an innovative approach to encourage adherence to traffic regulations. Police officers have started presenting individuals who wear helmets while riding two-wheelers with the traditional gamosa as a gesture of appreciation.
The Dima Hasao Police shared this heartwarming initiative on their official X account, posting a video that showcased the commendation of a father-son duo for their compliance with traffic rules. The post read, “Kudos to the father-son duo for obeying traffic rules and staying safe.”
This initiative comes in the wake of a stricter enforcement campaign where signboards were erected, declaring that individuals not abiding by traffic rules would not be allowed entry into the Dima Hasao district. The signboards clearly state, “No helmet, no seat belt, no entry into Dima Hasao,” signaling a stringent crackdown on traffic violations.
In a related incident, a recent bus accident in Dima Hasao resulted in one fatality and left several passengers critically injured. The accident involved a Tripura-bound night bus that lost control and veered off the highway.
In response to the frequent road accidents in the district, the Dima Hasao police have implemented various strict measures to ensure the safety of motorists and passengers. As part of these efforts, the police launched a massive awareness campaign aimed at preventing road accidents and promoting road safety.
