Assam: Dimoria College Awarded Autonomous Status by UGC

Guwahati, September 7 – Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has congratulated Dimoria College in Kamrup (M) district for being granted autonomous status by the University Grants Commission (UGC). The UGC approved the college’s proposal for autonomy in a meeting held on August 27, 2024. This status will be effective from the 2024-2025 academic year and will last until 2028-2029, in accordance with the UGC’s 2023 regulations for autonomous colleges.

Chief Minister Sarma praised the achievement, noting, “The conferment of autonomous status is a significant milestone for Dimoria College. It reflects the dedication of its management, staff, students, and alumni to fostering educational excellence and innovation.”

As an autonomous institution, Dimoria College will have increased academic freedom to tailor its curriculum and governance. The college will need to adhere to all UGC regulations to maintain its new status.
