Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a woman has been allegedly killed by her husband in Sonitpur District of Assam over domestic dispute.
The incident occurred in Addabarie Tea Estate of Balipara Tehsil.
The accused husband identified as Biru Karmakar, allegedly killed his wife, Malati Karmaka in a fit of rage over a domestic violence.
According to sources, the couple was engaged in a fierce quarrel, which was intensified by alcohol consumption.
The dispute soon turned violent, and in an inebriated state, Biru assaulted Malati to death by hitting her with a bamboo stick.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Chariduar Police officials immediately arrived at the spot and arrested Biru and sending him to Tezpur jail custody.
Authorities have registered a case, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
The shocking crime has left the local community in disbelief, with many calling for strict action against domestic violence and alcohol-related offenses.
It needs to be mentioned that the rising number of murder cases in the state has raised serious concern among the people.
