Assam: Eight Arrested in Connection with High-Value Highway Robbery

Assam Police have made significant strides in their investigation into a daring highway robbery that took place on October 26th in Dharamtul, Morigaon. Eight individuals suspected of involvement in the heist, which netted over Rs 1.5 crore in stolen goods, have been apprehended.

Under the strategic guidance of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Samiran Baishya, a multi-location operation was executed across Assam and beyond. The collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies have been instrumental in bringing these suspects to justice.

Initial investigations indicate that the apprehended gang has a history of orchestrating similar highway robberies. Their activities have posed a serious threat to the safety and security of goods being transported along major routes in the region.

Addressing the media on Saturday, ASP Samiran Baishya provided insights into the operation and reassured the public that heightened security measures are being implemented to deter such criminal acts. The police force remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of both goods and commuters on Assam’s highways.
