Assam: Elderly Couple Critically Injured in Brutal Batuatuli Attack, One Arrest Made
Guwahati: A shocking incident has unfolded in Batuatuli, Dhubri, where an elderly couple was subjected to a violent attack with sharp weapons, leaving them critically injured. The assault, which occurred on Monday, has sent ripples of fear and anger through the local community.
In response to a formal complaint filed with the authorities, the Golakganj police have successfully apprehended one suspect, Saadek Ali, from his residence in Batuatuli. Saadek Ali is the brother of Shahidul Haque, a portal journalist, who is identified as the primary accused in this heinous crime.
Eyewitness accounts detail a coordinated attack involving multiple members of the Haque family. The assault was allegedly carried out by three brothers—Mohibul Haque, Saadek Haque, and Shahidul Haque—along with their parents and sister. The collective involvement of the family members has amplified the community’s distress and calls for swift justice.
The Golakganj police station has registered a case (Case No. 64/25) under sections 189(2)/191(2)/191(3)/45/117(4)/109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). While Saadek Ali is now in custody, Shahidul Haque has fled the scene and remains at large. Police have launched an intensive manhunt to locate and apprehend him.
Local residents have voiced their outrage and are demanding stringent legal action against all individuals implicated in the attack. Police officials have reassured the community that comprehensive efforts are underway to capture the remaining suspects and ensure that the victims receive justice.
