Assam: Elephant Calf Dies after Falling into Pit in Titabar
Guwahati, 28th November: In a tragic incident, one-an half month old elephant calf which got separated from its herd died after falling into a mud pit in Titabar of Assam on Monday night.
This unfortunate incident occurred in the forest fringe hamlets of Rangajan locality in Titabar, situated under the jurisdiction of Jorhat district.
Initial reports suggest that the calf may have wandered away from the Hoollongapar Gibbon Sanctuary near Mariani, driven by the search for food and got separated from the herd.
Upon receiving the information, forest personnel immediately reached the spot and sent it for a post mortem.
