Assam: Elephant Safari Suspended at Kaziranga National Park for Population Estimation

Guwahati, 25th February: Authorities at Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve have announced the temporary suspension of elephant safari on February 25-26 to facilitate the 7th elephant population estimate. The counting initiative commenced on February 20 with a scheduled week-long program.

While professional forest officials have been engaged in preliminary tasks since February 20, the actual counting of elephants will take place from February 25 to 26. Tamed elephants typically employed in Elephant Safari will be utilized for the population estimation within the national park.

Consequently, elephant safari operations at Kaziranga National Park will remain closed for the specified duration, while jeep safari activities will proceed as usual, confirmed park officials. This population estimate marks a crucial effort in wildlife conservation and management within the park premises.
