Assam Emerges as Key Player in Semiconductor Industry with Tata Facility and VLSI Society’s Support
Guwahati: Assam is poised to become a significant player in the semiconductor industry, thanks to the upcoming Tata Semiconductor Facility.
This development is expected to create a robust semiconductor ecosystem in the region, driving growth and innovation. The facility, slated to begin operations by 2025, will produce 15 billion chips annually, generating over 27,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The North-East Chapter of the VLSI Society of India (VSI) was recently inaugurated by Dr. Ravi Kota, Assam’s Chief Secretary.
With over 40 years of experience in promoting semiconductor development, VSI focuses on fostering talent, research, and skills through collaborations with academic institutions, industries, and government bodies. The new chapter aims to build a vibrant semiconductor community in the Northeast, encouraging knowledge sharing and cooperation among stakeholders.
